Monday funday

Time.  We all wish we had more.  Days can get away from you.  This past week has been a prime example. Here is a treat to brighten your week.  French Silk Brownies.  They are on my list. https://kitchenfunwithmy3sons.com/french-silk-brownies/ It feels more like spring here.  It is 71 degrees and the birds are singing.  It has been rainy and foggy.  It smells like spring.I guess we had our winter.  Living in south Texas is strange.  Fall, winter, and spring seem to happen November, December, and January.  LOL  It is usually very hot again by the end of April.  I should rejoice with the all year growing season.  But it is tricky. I am working on Jayda's Institches calendar blanket this year. It is made with Mile a Minute stripes.  One stripe for each month.  Simple and portable. Homeschool is slow and steady.  We are looking forward to planting and being able to do kitchen crafts. My tea today is plain black tea with sugar and milk.  What is on your to do list today?

Friday morning musings

Most of the morning is already gone.  I haven't had my tea yet.  It was a quiet morning because Hubby and daughter were up last night playing games.  I am pretty much done by 10:30.  I am not a night owl. It is a cool and sunny day here.  It is suppose to be breezy this afternoon.  Can't complain about 50 degrees in mid January. I don't miss the ice and snow.  Our last winter spent in Ohio was 2009.  Hubby fractured his arm slipping on the ice.  Chicky doesn't remember too much about Ohio.  She was 4 when we moved here.  She doesn't remember playing in the snow. I need to make an eye appointment and probably get glasses.  I would like to get back into counted cross stitch.  So I will definitely need glasses.  I really enjoy Quaker designs.  I have several that I can get started on. I have a nice pile of seed catalogs now.  Oh, if I had the room for what all I want to plant! But, I will be happy with my little spot to grow in. My poor herbs took a beating this year

Grocery store fun.

No, grocery shopping really isn't that fun.  LOL  But I got myself a treat. I enjoy honey in my tea.  I prefer local.  Nature Nate's is a fantastic option.  I was lucky enough to be their ambassador for a year.  Then, when they changed up their packaging, they emailed me for my opinions.  They sent me a coupon for a free bottle.  You can buy this at Sam's, Walmart, or Kroger.  Texas honey has a more molasses taste.  Just plain black tea with honey and milk today. We warmed into the 70s today.  Had to run the a/c to get rid of the stuffiness.  Sunny and beautiful. We cheated and had deli sandwiches and salads today for lunch.  I am trying to cut out all bread.  I do have an intolerance.  They were delicious.  I had roast beef and cheddar.  My daughter loves wraps. I spent the afternoon playing video games with my teen.  We like Animal Crossing, Asphalt, and Minecraft.  I enjoy watching her play Fortnite, Mario, and the many other games she has.  She has been playing Just D

Where my mind is today

Image
My mind is on herbs, planting, and gardens.  I was lucky enough to receive a few seed catalogs over the last few days.  The garden in my mind is much larger than my reality.  LOL Containers are my reality.  But, I am not letting that discourage me.  Every thing that I will grow will be food I don't have to buy.  Plus, I know where they came from and what has been put on them.   The smell and taste of fresh herbs are so worth the effort.  Dill for salmon, mint for tea, Rosemary for roasted potatoes, basil for marinated tomatoes.  Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. My tea today is a regular black tea.  With sugar and milk.  Simple and easy. I have a simple baby blanket on my crochet hook.  Using Mandala yarn in Unicorn.  I have a group on Facebook that your handmade mittens, hats, scarves, baby blankets, and other goodies can be sent to Bethlehem Priory so that they may be given to those in need.  It is called Handmade with love for Bethlehem Priory. https://www.facebook.

Howdy and welcome to my little corner of the Blogosphere.

My name is Amy.  Welcome to my blog.  Enjoying a cold wave in our weather.  We are in south Texas.  It is a refreshing break from months of 90 degree plus days and never get below 75 degree nights.  We just missed the snow/icy weather over the weekend.   Our family is small. My Hubby, my daughter, and two dogs.  My nickname is MrsRooster because my Hubby's nickname is Rooster.  I like to call our daughter our peep or chick.  Being a teen, she doesn't care for that.  Our dogs are Katy (a Brittany spaniel) and Johnny (a Chiweenie).  Both are rescues. There is mint tea in my mug this morning.  It is one of my favorite teas.   My hobbies include crochet, needlework, gardening, and kitchen crafts.  We are going minimalist or simpler lifestyle.   I do hope you will join me.  God bless you and have a beautiful day.
